Swap your home and see the world

7:30 PM on a Sunday night. TV is on, but it’s just a background. I’m sitting here on my sofa, watching outside the window, lost in my thoughts. It’s the 21st March today and that means only one thing. Spring has started. Well, it should have started. But…wait a minute…what is that white thing falling from the sky? Oh yes, it’s snow. I wonder what I would see if I was sitting somewhere else, looking outside another window. For example in Venice, Florence or Rome

Sometimes you just feel like you would like to be somewhere else for a change. Just for a week or so. But travelling is very expensive and needs a lot of planning. For example, you need to fix a decent accommodation and you don’t have time or money for doing that! Have you ever felt like that?

Well, there is a solution!

Just as Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, in the movie The Holiday, you can swap your home with someone else, for a shorter or longer period of time. It’s quick, it’s cheap (between 80-120 euro per year) and, most importantly, it’s very easy.

The only thing you need to do is register to one of the many dedicated websites, such as www.homeExchange.com or www.livingaway.com, upload some nice pictures of your home, choose your favourite destination and get in contact with someone who owns a house that your like particularly like, to see if he or she is interested in swapping his or her property with yours.

There are of course some basic rules to remember: treat your host’s house as you would like he/her to treat yours; leave your home clean and tidy before leaving; leave some welcome presents to your guest and write a small list of “instructions for use”. In short, try to be as much respectful and careful as possible!

Then make your luggage and jump on the first flight!

And feel good!

P.S: Looking for inspiration? Check this website and browse through many and different food festivals in Italy.
