Spanish chainstore Mango continues to expand in Japan, and is opening a new shop in the Shin Misato Lalaport mall in Tokyo. With an area of 260 sq. metres, the shop sports furniture in total black, a white ceiling and parquet floors for a warm and easy atmosphere.
This opening will be followed by four more by November in some of the top shopping centres in the Japanese capital, including Aeon Musashimurayama, Aeon Lake Town, Parco Urawa and Marui Omiya. Mango already has eight shops in Japan, one of the fastest growing markets for the Spanish brand, and will have 12 by the end of the year.
The Spanish company, based in Barcelona, has earmarked €100 mill. for new openings, shop refurbishment, logistics and IT systems in 2009. For the whole year, forecasts point to earnings of €1.512 bn for Mango and €1.155 for the group, up 5% on 2008.
Mango has 1,280 shops in 93 countries. In 2009, it entered new markets like Iraq and New Caledonia, and has opened 150 shops in cities like Belgrade, Dubai, Johannesburg, Manila, Moscow, New Delhi, New York, Paris, Peking and Tokyo.
